Fetboy Hamptone Mic Preamp PCB
Scott Hampton's take on a simple and very efficient transistor-based mic preamp. ABOUT THE DESIGN
This board is based on the JFET preamp design by Scott Hampton of Hamptone, first published in Tape Op magazine (issue #37, September 2003).
Scott's goal was a very simple, low-cost transistor preamp that sounds good and is easy to build. It can run from a DC wall adapter, so you do not need the high voltages that tube circuits need.
A JFET behaves much like a tube triode, which gives the circuit its character.

TRANSFORMER OPTIONS
Our version has two options for the input transformer:
- OEP A262A3E (the cheaper option)
PCB ONLY
